I added a new position to my portfolio with the purchase of United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS)
13 shares @ $109.57 on 3/16/2018.
This increases my forward 12-month dividend income by $47.32 to a total of $5,194.46
I also updated my portfolio page to reflect the change.
United Parcel Service was first foundered under the name American Messenger Company in 1907. The company later changed its name to United Parcel Service (UPS) in 1919 after it a few mergers. The company is an American multinational package delivery company and a provider of supply chain management solutions. The global logistics company is headquartered in the U.S. city of Sandy Springs, Georgia.
UPS currently has a consecutive dividend growth streak of 9 years. However, they have been paying an increasing dividend since 2000. The reason why they only have a 9-year consecutive streak is that there were a few years where they froze the dividends. The last dividend freeze was during the great rescission.
The company has a 5-year dividend growth rate of 7.8% and there most recent increase was 9.64%. They currently have a dividend yield of 3.51% where their 5-year dividend average sits at 2.76%. Normally when the dividend yield is higher than the 5-year average, It gets me interested in the company and wanting to know more.
UPS dividend payout ratio is 59.18%. CFRA expects earnings growth of 12% for the next three years. Theses earning growth will help lower the dividend payout ratio very nicely.
This is another company that in my mind is a forever company. People will always way to ship a product and UPS will be there to service that needs.
UPS is undervalued, and I recommend it a BUY at this time. I have a fair price of $124.24 for the company.
What do you think of the company? Plan on owning it? or why not?
